Cricket's three formats and the tournaments Bangladeshis follow

T20

The Fastest Format

Every ball counts in this 20-over format. BPL and IPL are both played in T20. Big shots, quick wickets — odds can change in an instant. T20 is the most popular format among bettors because each over brings a new situation.

ODI

The Fifty-Over Contest

Major tournaments like the ICC World Cup and Asia Cup use the ODI format. Batting partnerships, run rate and mid-innings tactics carry much more weight. Total runs, top batsman and powerplay markets are particularly interesting for ODI betting.

Test

The Five-Day Epic

Test cricket is a game of patience and tactics. Pitch conditions, weather and bowlers' form play a significant role in betting markets. A draw is a valid result in Tests — so the match winner market has three options. This sets it apart from T20 because conditions can change completely as the days progress.

BPL, IPL and international tournaments

BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) holds a special place for cricket fans in Bangladesh. With local stars and overseas players coming together, every match feels like a celebration. IPL and the ICC T20 World Cup are equally popular among Bangladeshi bettors.

Interest in the Bangladesh Tigers' performance in international matches is always high. jile offers pre-match and live markets for all these tournaments, with odds updating after every over and wicket.

From long-term betting to series winner markets — jile has a range of markets that give you more reason to follow cricket closely.

Football and other sports alongside cricket

jile sports betting football markets

Beyond cricket, jile also offers football betting. Football markets include match winner, goalscorer, half-time result and more. The key difference between cricket and football betting is format — cricket has separate innings, overs and wickets, while football counts results across two halves over 90 minutes.

Cricket has separate markets for toss, powerplay and death overs that football does not have. Football, on the other hand, offers Asian handicap and corner kick markets that are absent from cricket. Understanding these differences helps in making better betting decisions.

Alongside sports betting, jile also has a Playtech Live Casino where you can play Baccarat, Roulette and Teen Patti with real dealers.

5 popular markets and how they work

Match Winner

The simplest market — pick which team will win. In T20 and ODI there are only two options (no draw), but in Tests there are three: Team A wins, Team B wins, or draw.

Easiest

Toss Betting

Bet on the toss result before the match starts — which team will win the toss. This is a standalone market with no connection to the match result. Odds on both options are usually close to each other.

Pre-match

Top Batsman

Bet on which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match. Odds are generally better because there are more competitors, but picking correctly is difficult.

High Odds

Total Runs Over/Under

Choose whether the total runs scored will be over or under a set number. Example: will Team A score more than 160 runs in the first innings? Pitch conditions, weather and the bowling attack all play a big role in this market.

Two Sides

Multi Bet (Multiple Selections)

Combine selections from multiple events into one bet — if all are correct, the odds multiply and the return increases significantly. However, if even one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

Higher Return

Powerplay Score

Bet on how many runs will be scored in the first 6 overs of a T20 or the first 10 overs of an ODI. Fielding restrictions during the powerplay generally lead to higher scoring. Quick results make this market popular among live bettors.

Quick Result

Decimal, fractional and American — three types of odds

Cricket betting platforms usually display odds in three formats. They all express the same probability in different ways — only the way they are read differs.

Format What it looks like How to read it
Decimal 3.00 Total return = stake × odds. ৳1,000 × 3.00 = ৳3,000
Fractional 2/1 ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked. Stake ৳1,000 and get ৳2,000 profit + original ৳1,000 back = ৳3,000
American +200 A plus sign shows profit on a ৳100 bet. +200 means ৳200 profit on a ৳100 bet
Worked example 1 — betting on Team A to win:

Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200. A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳3,000 if Team A wins (৳2,000 profit + original ৳1,000); if Team A loses, the full ৳1,000 is gone.

Worked example 2 — favourite Team B:

Decimal 1.80 = Fractional 4/5 = American -125 (the minus sign means how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit). A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳1,800 (৳800 profit).

For a multi bet, multiply the odds: Decimal 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.60 = 3.36 (approximate), so a ৳100 bet returns ৳336 if all selections are correct — but if even one is wrong, you lose the full ৳100.

jile odds formats and betting market comparison

Odds are an expression of probability — they are not a guarantee of any outcome. Betting is for entertainment — there is no certainty of winning.

Odds shift when wickets fall — live betting is a different experience

Even after pre-match betting closes, you can still place bets in live in-play markets while the match is on. Odds update instantly after every wicket, boundary or maiden over, allowing you to make new decisions as the game unfolds.

Say Team A starts brilliantly but suddenly loses three wickets — at that moment, Team B's odds of winning will shorten. jile's live interface provides real-time updates so you can catch these shifts as they happen.

Because live betting requires quick decisions, it is important to set a budget in advance. Following responsible gambling guidelines keeps betting enjoyable.

Things to keep in mind when betting on cricket

01

Focus on one format

T20, ODI and Test all play very differently. If you are new, build experience in one format before moving to another. Betting across all formats at once increases confusion.

02

Check pitch and weather

Spin-friendly pitches tend to produce lower total scores. Rain can change the outcome of a match. Take these factors into account when deciding on total runs over/under markets.

03

Set a budget and stick to it

Before each betting session, decide the maximum amount you are willing to spend and keep to it. Placing bet after bet to recover losses turns betting from entertainment into a problem.

04

Keep multi bet selections low

The more selections in a multi bet, the lower the chance of winning. Keeping it to two or three selections maintains a balance between risk and return. High odds on many selections may look tempting, but winning becomes very difficult in practice.

05

Do not rush in live betting

Because odds move fast in live in-play, many people make hasty decisions. Take a moment before placing a bet to read the match situation — rushing does not always pay off.

06

Treat betting as entertainment only

Betting is not a reliable source of income — it is entertainment. Only bet money you can afford to lose. Even if you receive weekly cashback through the jile VIP programme, it does not guarantee that losses will be covered.

Questions everyone asks about cricket betting

T20 has only 20 overs, so odds shift quickly and live betting is most active. ODI has 50 overs, so mid-innings strategy and run rate have a bigger influence on markets. Test cricket allows a draw as a valid result, meaning the match winner market has three options — T20 and ODI have two. Pitch conditions matter most in Tests, as the surface changes over five days.

In live betting, odds update instantly after every event. When a wicket falls, the batting team's odds of winning increase (meaning it costs less to back them), while the bowling team's odds shorten. Conversely, when a batsman hits a big over, the batting team's odds shorten. Live odds shift continuously based on scores across the powerplay, middle overs and death overs.

A multi bet combines selections from multiple matches or markets into one bet, and the decimal odds of each selection are multiplied together to give the total odds. Example: three selections at 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.60 = 3.36 (approximate), so a ৳100 bet returns ৳336 if all selections are correct. However, if even one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost. More selections mean a higher potential return — but also a lower chance of winning.

Most bettors in Bangladesh find decimal odds straightforward because the return is calculated directly — stake × odds = total return. Fractional odds are the British format, showing the ratio of profit. American odds work differently — a plus sign shows how much profit a ৳100 bet returns, while a minus sign shows how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit. All three express the same probability, just written differently.

Since both BPL and IPL are T20 tournaments, match winner, toss betting, powerplay score and top batsman are the most popular markets. In live in-play, markets such as runs in the next over or when the next wicket will fall are also available. Odds move fastest during the death overs (16–20), so live bettors tend to focus there.
